I recently discovered that Windows Education Edition exists, and the pricing is significantly lower than standard versions. I was hoping for a more limited setup, but after some investigation it seems it lacks Cortana and offers far more capabilities than previous releases. Why would anyone choose the regular Windows 10? This definitely sounds too promising to be accurate. What am I overlooking?
Most education editions require you to provide a valid student ID card for whatever institution you're part of. Apart from that there is no reason not to get a student edition....Although it is windows 10, and I'm forever having to fix problems with people who were unfortunate enough to have windows 10 preinstalled.
It seems my university doesn't offer the Windows education partnership, so I'm forced to rely on Take Ownership to turn off Cortana.

If you want to review the comparison, you can check the document at the provided link. Just a quick remark: the education version seems tailored more for institutions than individual learners. Many of the added options focus on administrative tasks and remote access, which are more relevant for IT staff than typical users.
