I believe cod could be a solid choice this year. Titanfall's mechanics were impressive, and the advanced warfare system felt like a major upgrade over Titanfall. Black Ops 3's movement style closely mirrors Titanfall. It seems they drew inspiration from it rather than copying directly. Still, I think if Treyarch can't pull through this season, things could get really tough. Plus, most of these titles cater to solo play or console versions. Cod and Gears have always had a strong fan following, so cod fans will stick with cod, and Gears fans will stay loyal to Gears... which makes sense since cod currently has more dedicated supporters.
