Hello everyone. I just added a brand new M.2 SSD to my system, and it functioned well for six months as a Linux storage device. Now I’m using it for Windows 11 games, mainly Baldur’s Gate and COD MW3. Everything works smoothly until the game crashes occasionally. When I check Event Viewer on Windows, it shows the executable is missing, but the folder still appears in Explorer. If I open it, the path disappears after deep navigation, though the files remain accessible. Restarting fixes everything. This issue only occurs during long gaming sessions, not regularly. There have been periods without it and others where it happens multiple times after a few matches.

I haven’t changed any settings beyond the default XMP profiles, enabled 4G encoding, and using FTP mode. All components are new except the HDD (everything else is under 5 years). The GPU and other parts are brand new, bought from Amazon. No water damage, case wasn’t dropped, and nothing unusual happened with other games.

Below is a detailed rundown of my PC configuration and troubleshooting steps:

- Ryzen 5 3600x processor
- Noctua NH D15 cooler
- AsRock x470 Taichi Sapphire Vega64 graphics card
- Nitro+ M.2 SSD (970 Evo Plus, 250GB)
- Samsung NVMe M.2 SSD (Samsung NVME M.2 SSD 970 Evo Plus, 500GB)
- Crucial P2 500GB SSD
- Wester Digital 1TB HDD (Blue, 10 years)
- Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
- BIOS updated, reset BIOS settings to factory defaults
- Chkdsk, sfc, DISM tools run multiple times
- Fresh install from Windows, formatted multiple times
- Reinstalled game files twice
- Updated SSD firmware
- BIOS reset and 4G encoding enabled

I also tried a different SSD in the past, but it worked fine. I used a type C enclosure for the SSD and connected it via a case. All disks passed SMART checks using Linux tools, Crucial software, and CrystalDisk Mark. No errors found—system is healthy.

Some concerns:
- The old Aerocool P7 case sometimes causes random reboots.
- The bottom M.2 slot only supports Gen1 speed with the current motherboard.

If I decide to replace this SSD, I’m thinking about getting a 1TB 980GB Samsung model. I’d like to know if there are any steps that could help recover it. Please share your thoughts or let me know if you need more details. Thanks for your help!
