Hey there, friends. Your PC's boot issue is tricky, and you're considering a switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. I can help clarify what might happen if you go ahead with the upgrade. Your existing files should likely stay safe in the "windows.old" folder unless something goes wrong during the installation. As for whether it's worth it, it depends on your needs—if you want newer features and a fresh experience, it could be worth the effort. Let me know if you need more details!

It's friendly for gaming, but 7 might still be better depending on your needs.

ClassicShell offers a much smoother experience compared to Windows 8. It launches significantly quicker. I highly recommend giving it a try.

7 remains the top choice, though Windows 8 offers roughly a 3% boost in frames per second. If you prefer 7, it’s better not to invest time in Windows 8 and instead wait for Windows 10, which fixes its major usability problems and is free to upgrade.
