I'm preparing a new PC setup gradually over the next few months. I've already secured my case, and Newegg is running a sale on memory, so it makes sense to grab some as well. My main concern is choosing a CPU—AMD Ryzen 4000 Desktop isn't available yet, and it'll likely take a while before I decide. Should I buy memory compatible with the current Ryzen 9 series, or wait until the new CPUs arrive? This could be a simple oversight, but I'm not as experienced as many here and would appreciate some advice. I'm aiming for a high-performance system to handle gaming, design, photography, and video editing, and I've noticed on PCPartPicker that certain RAM types work better with the X-series CPUs. I'm particularly interested in fast, reliable memory and have seen price differences between standard and B-die options.

In my view, it could make sense since you're considering alternatives for X CPU performance. This decision might also stem from needing memory that won't be available for a few months, so you're unsure about potential DOA issues and the store's return rules.

If possible, I don’t think there’s much need to skip the memory if it offers an outstanding price. I’m not sure Zen 3/Ryzen 4000 will differ much from Zen 1/+/2 in RAM needs, so a 3600Mhz CL16 should perform well. The phrase about matching X memory with Y CPU mainly relates to motherboard compatibility, but Ryzen’s memory support has improved significantly over time. G.Skill has consistently worked well with these systems, so I don’t expect major problems. Of course, I’m limited to what I’ve experienced before.

I usually wouldn’t recommend purchasing parts individually since it’s hard to verify their performance. But if you’re willing to try them on a friend’s system, go for it. That RAM package looks solid and there’s no reason it wouldn’t fit well with the 4000 series processors.

You can definitely purchase memory first. Just need to understand what to look for. A versatile B-die kit works well with both AMD and Intel processors. For a 3600mhz, choose G.Skill memory with 16-16-16 timing. It's good to see someone doing research before buying. You earn a point for that effort.

These are standard kits—no flashy effects, no sparkles, just straightforward performance. You should probably focus more on the screen rather than the lights, hehe.

Hey team! I'm going to look into the available choices and might actually activate it. I'll try it out in my friend's machine with Memtest86 to verify its stability before leaving it unattended.
