When taking out a Ryzen CPU, it's best to separate the thermal paste first before removing the cooler. Following @boggy77's advice, attempting to reinstall it with the cooler attached usually leads to bent or damaged pins. Once the coolers are removed, twisting them clockwise or counterclockwise often breaks the paste before extraction. AMD processors are particularly prone to this problem when using dry paste. After taking it off the cooler, using fishing line is a good method to remove it.
