I play Valorant at roughly 300-400 frames. It's a CPU-driven game and frame drops can happen occasionally. My main concern is that the game consumes 20%-30% of my CPU while running, yet temperatures spike to as high as 89°C even when idle. I’m using a 240mm AIO Corsair cooler; fans spin aggressively once temps exceed 80°C to maintain stability. After reapplying thermal paste, temps still climb significantly. If you need help, here are my specs: B550-A gaming, RTX 4070 TS, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, 4x8GB 4.0GB SSD, 500GB NVMe 4.0TB HDD, 1TB SSD, 850W Corsair full modular PSU, 240mm Corsair case, 3 Corsair fans, and a Carbide 275R case.

Uses around 20-30% of the CPU, though it’s likely running close to two cores that are getting very hot.

1) Your AIO is failing or stopped working properly. A 5900 shouldn’t be reaching such high speeds on a 240mm model. Look at the pump speed or curve. To confirm it’s dead, place your hand near the tubes close to the block and feel for active water flow.
2) An issue occurred and the block isn’t seated correctly, requiring reinstallation or a fresh sealant.

I just re-applied the thermal paste a few hours ago. During gameplay, it’s hitting up to 91°C. I’m a bit concerned—it’s currently at 89°C with 14% CPU load while the game is paused. Something seems off.

In addition to my previous comment, I understand the block is safe and the paste is being applied properly. This must be the pump.

The temperature changes depending on how you position the system. Laying on its side may affect heat distribution.

You recently purchased your 4070 TS and are experiencing unexpected CPU problems. It might be connected to the previous RTX 2070 armor OC you ran before. The cooling setup on the CPU could influence whether the issue stems from the AIO or another component. If you're certain it's not the AIO, consider replacing the AIO to see if that resolves the problem.

You recently reinstalled your old 2070 and are experiencing cooler temperatures compared to your 4070TS. Someone might be able to help explain what’s causing this difference.
