I purchased a functional laptop but encountered a scam—believed it had 5700hq. Returning it isn’t an option at the moment, so I’m exploring ways to upgrade it. Since the CPU isn’t working well, I’m considering a replacement. Do others here know what CPU models are compatible? I’m open to suggestions, and I’m also looking into options like switching to an SSD or other upgrades. I’m trying to improve it, but I want to make sure the CPU upgrade is feasible given its role as the system’s weakest link.

If the cooling performs well, you can consider a minor CPU upgrade. However, does it come with an SSD? If not, prioritize that first. I own a relatively old laptop running an i5-2520m, which remains adequate for everyday tasks.

It varies based on the laptop. If you were scammed, reach out to eBay or Amazon or similar services. Avoid spending more than necessary. How much did you end up paying?

It seems the CPU is still okay. Adding an SSD and increasing RAM would be a good next step before upgrading the CPU.

The optimal approach is to modify its application for a bathroom Netflix unit. It makes more sense not to invest further in that failing project. Disappointing, you're right—you were likely taken for a scam.

The cooling system is working well. To check compatible CPUs, you’ll need to identify the laptop’s model first—look for its make and any visible details.

Very limited choices available; no value in the investment.
