I'm trying to boost my i5 3570k on the ASRock Z77 Extreme4. The problem is that when I set the CPU to all clocks and choose a higher clock speed than the BIOS sets, the core speed drops back down to 38 even if I change it to 41 or 42. Also, the board only recognizes two RAM slots instead of four. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Have you attempted the process on Manual right, tried turning off turbo boost, and adjusted the voltage? Did you configure a voltage of 1.30v above 4.1ghz, and for the RAM, check if it's placed in the correct slot? Typically, the 4 slots are labeled A1, A2, B1, B2, so you likely added the two sticks on A1 and B1 and the third stick on A2.

Once you entered the value, press Enter to apply. This is the method I use on my AsRock motherboard.

The only method I've attempted is manual adjustment, and I also tried turning off turbo boost, but it only lowered the core speed to 38 and prevented higher speeds. I haven't changed the voltage since I just want to be able to set a higher core speed initially. I have four identical memory modules, but only two are recognized by the board in the BIOS while CPU-Z shows all four slots filled 4x4GB. To fix this, I switched to two 8GB modules, which now show two slots instead of four, helping the board detect them properly. The modules are located in slots 1 and 3.

I tried this when switching from 34 to 40 and pressing enter, but it went back to 38 instead of 40. I'm not sure why.

Are you asking whether the system restarts immediately after entering values or when it is powered off?

I discovered a discussion on tweaktown regarding this problem on your particular board. It looks like the ROM is malfunctioning.

Thanks, I'll look for a replacement that matches the same issue.
