I observed using serial numbers for each RAM kit to keep them organized. The second module is working well and is close to passing test 3 without issues, suggesting the first module might be defective. Regarding the testing process, repeating the schedule from "test 0" to "test 13" four times or completing a single pass with memetest86 would determine if one additional pass is necessary.
Generally, one quick pass suffices. If the components are faulty, they usually reveal issues promptly.
You received another set of QVL RAM modules that fit into slots 2 through 4 as required by the motherboard manual. You attempted to install them in slots 1 and 3 but the system didn’t respond, and the yellow RAM indicator stayed lit. You tested using one module at a time but the motherboard only recognized slots 2 or 4 for posting. The manual suggests specific layouts: one module in slot 2, two in slots 2 and 4, or four in slots 2 through 4. It’s unclear if inserting RAM into slots 1 or 3 causes similar issues, but it seems the system only validates certain configurations. You might want to check if the motherboard has any damage in those two slots before proceeding.
It's fairly typical. I don't have a strong sense of its prevalence as a number, but it's definitely not rare.
I think I got it. I ran these tests: one stick in A2, one in B2, and then combined them. Everything worked fine so far. Now I’m curious—if I don’t put at least one stick in the gray slots, will the system fail? Am I correct about that?
