Hi there, I’m facing a bit of an issue with one of my Windows 10 systems. This is essentially my budget server setup. Key details include:

- Motherboard: Gigabyte AX370-Gaming 5 (BIOS version F4)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-1600X (@stock for stability)
- RAM: Some Kingston 16 GB @ 2133MHz
- GPU: nVidia GTS250 M.2 TwinForce
- Power Supply: Corsair RM 650x (because of driver issues)
- Storage: Several drives plus a boot SSD
- Processor: Intel Gigabit NIC

The machine runs Windows 10 Pro without issues until recently. I encountered a problem last week where I couldn’t log into my desktop, receiving the message: “Can't connect to remote desktop. Try to reconnect.” I attempted this multiple times, checked the network, tried another PC, and even connected via VM—those worked fine. Then I tried connecting a mouse, keyboard, and monitor. After rebooting, the mouse and keyboard didn’t appear in Windows, only the lights were on. I adjusted the BIOS settings to tweak fan speeds, and everything functioned properly. However, when I opened Windows, the mouse remained unresponsive, though the display was active.

I found the mouse and keyboard recognized by Device Manager, but not by Windows. Now I’m stuck—can’t use a mouse or connect remotely. I’m considering reinstalling Windows after my exams. Please let me know if anyone has faced similar problems.

P.S. Has anyone tried using Windows with just a keyboard?
Edit: The mouse and keyboard are a Microsoft Basic set (lol, compatibility).

It seems like you're dealing with a USB controller driver issue or a faulty USB controller. This is related to your USB problem. Network, I'm not sure what you're referring to or doing. Or there might be a BIOS compatibility issue with the Windows version you're using. Update your BIOS. Windows functions perfectly with just a mouse and keyboard. I've already checked each case.

It seems like you're dealing with a USB controller driver issue or a faulty USB controller. This is related to your USB problem. Network, I'm not sure what you're referring to or doing. Or there might be a BIOS compatibility issue with the Windows version you're using. Update your BIOS. Windows functions perfectly with just a mouse and keyboard. I've already checked each case.

The USB controller behavior would seem unusual since I checked it across all USB ports (USB 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1). My PS2 controller didn’t work either, but that’s noted in Device Manager. I experienced a similar issue once on my main PC when someone pulled out my mouse—all USB controllers failed at once, and the problem resolved after rebooting.
