I recently switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and I quickly realized that Steam and several other apps were opening at a very low resolution. I resolved this by adjusting the properties → compatibility → disabling display scaling on high DPI settings, though this option isn’t available for built-in programs either. The second issue was that Terraria wouldn’t launch through Steam—it would appear in Task Manager for a few seconds before disappearing, but worked when using the .exe. After verifying my files and reinstalling Steam, the problem persisted. I also noticed some screen tearing and stuttering on just two games, which I fixed by reinstalling my graphics driver. Unfortunately, Steam still wouldn’t launch Terraria. Launchers for Fallout: NV and Skyrim stopped responding immediately upon opening and needed to be closed. I’m unsure what to do next—please let me know if anyone has suggestions!

almost missed, geforce doesn't recognize terraria settings so I can't fine-tune it and the system specs are i7-4710hq at 2.50gHz with 16gb ram nvidia geforce gtx 970m running windows 10 pro on a laptop featuring a 15-inch 1920x1080 screen

Your applications and games aren't optimized for high-resolution displays. Starting with Windows 8, the system automatically adjusts DPI according to screen resolution and size. I suggest reaching out to your software developers, as this trend is more common now, and ask them to enhance their support for high-DPI environments. In the meantime, you can set Windows to full DPI by right-clicking the desktop, choosing "Display Settings," and adjusting the slider to 100%. Click "Apply," sign out and back in, or restart your computer. Once configured, everything should display correctly at the intended resolution. Encouraging developers to prioritize this will help improve compatibility and visual quality for users.
