Issues with visual distortions and program failures in FO3
I just got Fallout 3 and have run into some annoying problems. I’m seeing a lot of crashes and small visual issues, plus my video driver has failed twice while playing. There’s no noticeable delay except in the tenpenny tower lobby and some parts of Rivet City. I’m checking out Windows 10 patches since the game claims compatibility, but any advice would be really helpful. It could be related to my power supply, which I’m replacing soon. I’ll share screenshots later; right now I’m using my school’s Wi-Fi because I don’t have internet at home. My current setup is an AMD Sempron 3850 @ 1.3 GHz PowerColor ATI Radeon 5450 (light overclock, around 150MHz) with a 4GB Patriot DDR3 MSI AM1-I Mini ITX board, powered by a CodeGEN 400W PSU. The PSU looks fine but I don’t have a tester to confirm.
Check several unofficial updates available on the Nexus. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19122/? http://fose.silverlock.org/ Remember, I’m still facing issues even after applying them. Keep saving!
Like many other Bethesda releases, Fallout 3 tends to have a lot of bugs. I’m sure you’re aware that your PC might not be handling games well, especially older ones. This isn’t meant as a criticism, just a fact. Your graphics card is probably the main issue here. Overclocking often leads to graphical glitches, particularly on less powerful systems. I’d recommend resetting your GPU to its default settings and checking if the issues persist. If they do, reinstalling the driver might help. If the problem continues, it could point to a hardware fault. Wishing you luck and safe testing!
I know my PC struggles with most games, but I’m willing to give it a shot. When the game launches, it works smoothly, so upgrading right now isn’t a big concern. I’d really like a faster processor to improve performance.
I understand you, I was in the same boat too. I used an Acer laptop with an AMD Phenom II N950 processor, a quad-core clock speed of 2.1 GHz, and the mobile AMD Radeon HD graphics card. I can tell you it struggled with most tasks. Trust me, I’ve felt that kind of performance. Hopefully you’ll upgrade soon. Until then, keep going and stay strong.
Absolutely, every effort counts. Good luck with your job application!
