Issues with USB 4.0 40GB after mistakenly connecting a C cable to a port
I'm using a Thunderbolt 4 dock to link my PC with multiple screens and devices. It functioned properly until recently. Now the PC doesn't recognize the dock at all, no matter which port you use (there are two). I suspect the issue began after I mistakenly connected the dock cable to the USB-A port next to the PCIe slot. This caused the computer to restart twice, possibly damaging the USB-C port. The USB-C slots still work when you connect devices directly, but not when using the dock. It seems the dock itself isn't faulty, though it works with my laptop.
PC restarting might indicate a short circuit, possibly affecting the USB controller on the motherboard. To confirm, try connecting other USB-C or TB devices to see if they work.
