I tried a few alternatives since the recommended one didn't work. Regarding where to obtain a Windows 8 ISO, I'm not comfortable with downloading it from torrents.

You can set up Windows 7 on the hard drive using the desktop, and note the Windows 8 product key. Afterward, follow the steps to upgrade to Windows 8 via the provided link. Then transfer the contents from the HDD to the SSD and reinstall it on the laptop. If you don’t have an MSDN subscription, you’ll need to download Windows 8 from Microsoft directly.

It seems that using Windows 8 for installation might help, though it doesn't fully address the SSD boot issue. Otherwise, Windows 7 would have worked because it's already installed on the SSD.

After reviewing the details, I understand the challenge. The BIOS setup requires a specific boot path configuration. You need to add the boot option, choose the filesystem, set the path for the boot option, and then create the necessary entries. The instructions suggest using a format like "path\filename.efi" to define the path. Let me know if you need further clarification!

I understand this discussion hasn't been active long, but I'm facing the same issue with my laptop. It moved to an SSD and still restarts into the BIOS each time.

It seems like a SecureBoot problem might be occurring. Have you attempted to turn it off using the Aptio tool? I discovered some guidance on disabling SecureBoot through the Aptio utility, though I'm not sure if it applies to systems without such a setup.

1/ In the Aptio configuration tool, choose the Boot menu, pick 'Launch CSM', and adjust to enable.
2/ In the Aptio setup, navigate to Security settings, choose 'secure Boot Control', and set it to disable.
3/ Restart the system and return to the BIOS, selecting your preferred boot option.
