Issues with unblocked Windows 11 installation files.
Recently on this forum I noticed someone sharing a video. I decided to go through it carefully and create my own version, though as a newcomer I wanted to ask a few questions before installing.
1. Do you think this method is completely safe and won’t cause any issues if removed later?
2. Are you sure future Windows updates won’t restore everything I previously removed, making the whole process pointless?
3. If I ever wanted to reinstate these features without a full reinstall, it would also mean upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
ThisIsWin11 is a project that helped improve Win 11. It was discussed by Linus for better performance. You can find more info here: https://ameliorated.io/ ThisIsWin11 https://github.com/builtbybel/ThisIsWin11
I deleted a lot of unnecessary stuff—just Cortana, one drive, all the language settings and keyboard options I don’t use, plus as much telemetry as possible.
Sure, I'm ready to take a look. Just let me know what you'd like to explore!
It's more probable you'll feel repulsed, though we'll find out for sure.
Cortana is turned off and no longer active. You can remove it using the winget tool, which is part of the Windows app store. Deleting Cortana will free up around 50MB from your large drive. OneDrive can also be removed through the Settings panel, just like any other app. Be aware that if you have a Microsoft 365 Office subscription (especially as a student), this action removes your free plan, leaving you with only 1TB of OneDrive space. OneDrive remains a convenient way to store your files. Since many users prefer simple cloud storage over expensive NAS solutions, it’s a practical choice for most. Languages are added through the Store, functioning as add-on features that only affect your account. This doesn’t reduce storage usage. Keyboard layouts use less than 1MB of space on your drive. You can modify telemetry settings via: Settings > Privacy & Security > Diagnostics & Feedback. If your system shows performance problems, it may indicate an issue worth investigating.
