I attempted to set up Ubuntu via a bootable USB, but the language options aren't responding on my MacBook Pro 13" with TouchBar.

These MacBooks require significant changes to support Ubuntu or any Linux distribution natively. For a Linux environment, consider using a virtual machine.

macOS supports Unix standards completely, which means I’m uncertain what would necessitate pairing it with Linux.

Check your Ubuntu release; you may need a more recent kernel version.

Some individuals are interested in taking their operating systems to an extreme. Simply editing the Windows registry or similar macOS features isn't enough for them.

They should simply spin up a virtual machine. If they only need to tweak the operating system, why rely on a physical drive that could ruin their regular production setup? Also, these people shouldn’t purchase a Mac unless they’re open to Linux—Macs have historically struggled with Linux support, aside from the PowerPC versions that still function well.

People often prefer custom builds because they want full control over performance and compatibility.
