I experienced issues with both Sabertooth X58 boards. Connecting a PS/2 device or utilizing the second x16 PCIe slot sometimes caused certain RAM slots to malfunction. Initially, I thought the first board was faulty and replaced it. After switching to the second board, I avoided those ports and saw everything function properly—leading me to suspect the first board was defective. Recently, when using the first board again without any connections, it worked perfectly. However, on the second board, the same problem persists whenever I use either the PS/2 port or the second x16 slot. Do you know the cause of this behavior? Is it a widespread issue affecting all X58 models, particularly the Sabertooth variant, or did I simply end up with two bad boards? I haven’t found any online discussions about this, and it seems unusual for an Intel X-series board to disable RAM slots just by using alternate ports.

I might have assumed the problem was related to the CPU since the same one was used on both boards.

My system has an i7 990X paired with the second motherboard and an i7 980X connected to the first one.

It seems there might be a misunderstanding about the connection method. Did you mean to connect it to the mainboard or another component?

The PS/2 keyboard works fine on other machines. The Intel PCIe SSD isn’t testing correctly because there’s no suitable PC available.
