Hi everyone,
I’m dealing with a severe crash or system freeze that appears only in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. I’m struggling to find a solution.

System details:
- GPU: RX 9060 XT (16 GB)
- CPU: i5-11400F
- RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 11 (latest updates)
- Monitor: 60 Hz
- Power supply: Cooler Master 650w MWE v2

Symptoms:
The game freezes completely with audio stuck. The PC becomes unresponsive, requiring a long press of the power button to restart. After a reboot, the system displays: “Default performance tuning settings have been restored due to an unexpected system failure.” The Event Viewer shows Kernel-Power 41 / Bugcheck 0xE6. GPU temperatures are low (45–50°C) and power consumption is under 100W. This issue only occurs in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Other titles such as Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden and Granblue Fantasy Relink are working fine.

I’ve tried several fixes:
- Installed AMD driver via DDU in Safe Mode
- Used WHQL / recommended drivers only
- Disabled all overlays (RTSS, MSI Afterburner, Xbox Game Bar)
- Turned off Windows MPO (OverlayTestMode = 5)
- Disabled Fast Startup
- Set performance to High Performance
- Disabled overclock and undervolt
- Disabled in-game settings: Medium preset, FSR OFF, Dynamic Resolution OFF, Motion Blur OFF, Adaptive Performance OFF
- Removed external FPS cap (no RTSS)
- Enabled VSync only in-game

Anyone have any insights on why this is happening or suggestions for a fix?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
PSU: Cooler Master 650w MWE v2
How old is the PSU in your build?
You forgot to mention the make and model of your motherboard. Please include the BIOS version as well. How are you cooling the processor?

My PSU is 3 years old
Motherboard H510M H v2 Gigabyte
Bios version F5b updated on June 11 2025
CPU cooled using Deep cool Ag400 (temperature stayed between 48c and 52c during crashes, CPU usage ranged from 68% to 80% with power draw between 65w and 67w. RAM usage remained between 11gb and 12gb. Game loaded on Crucial SSD. Before this I was playing Banisher Ghost of New Eden and never had any issues)
