There seems to be a strange problem with my brand new RX 580 not starting games properly. I can play CSGO, Rust, Valorant, and more without any issues, but the GPU won’t load anything. Windows works, web browsing is fine, and temperatures are normal at around 40°C. I’ve tried everything from hardware swaps to changing HDMI cables, but nothing helped. I thought it was a defective GPU, so I received a refund under warranty, only to find the same problem with the same model. The new one had its plastic wrap removed, and it looked okay—maybe a software glitch? If anyone knows if others have faced this or what might be causing it, that would be really helpful. I’m already frustrated after four days of troubleshooting. Also, I forgot to mention that the older HD 7770 worked without issues, but I added another GPU and still had no luck. Please let me know if you’ve encountered the same issue or have any suggestions.
Just checking in on my thoughts—I think I found something odd about the crash issues in games. After adjusting the AMD Adrenaline settings, setting the clock speed to 1257 and tweaking the fan speeds, everything ran smoothly. I also made minor changes to the graphics card temperature, which now stays 5-10 degrees cooler during idle and gameplay.
I’m still puzzled about why my games would crash midway when using the default GPU settings from the package. It was a default clock of 1366, but after tuning it down to 1257, everything worked better—even improved! If anyone has insight into this, it would be really helpful. I’m curious if this is related to software or specific hardware quirks in the RX 580.
My sapphire RX 580 SE NITRO+ card was measured at 1430 mhz by default. It handled games that weren’t too demanding. Hell Let Loose worked just fine, but the game got major updates last year. It stopped running without noticeable fan noise from the graphics card. My CPU was a 7700-k Intel and had 16 GB of RAM. It really frustrated me, so I realized it’s time to upgrade my whole setup. I made the change on July 30, 2022. CS-GO isn’t tough unless developers pushed big updates for it like Hell Let Loose. I don’t know about the other titles you mentioned (Valorant, Rust... etc.)—did they require intense performance? I haven’t played them. The RX 480 to 580 model uses an older design. Your card might struggle with regular games at its standard speed (1366 mhz or higher) unless the game is demanding. Your processor is also six years old, matching your graphics card’s age. It has six cores and 12 threads. If your CPU was a few years newer, it should handle those games smoothly at 1366 mhz. I don’t have details on your video settings (Low, Mid, High).
