A new PC for your son has started up. The mainboard lights up and the RAM RGB shines on. No fans are running except the power supply unit. The CPU failure indicator is illuminated. It seems the CPU or motherboard might be faulty. You plan to test it by breadboarding it later, though you’ll need time off work. Help would be really appreciated.

It seems like your setup might be running a Ryzen processor on an outdated motherboard without the latest BIOS updates. Without your specific system details, it's hard to assess compatibility or performance.

Are these new components? What exact components are these? Are all cables plugged in, specifically the 8 pin EPS connector in the top left of the board? If this is a Ryzen 3000 build, check if the motherboard box has an orange 'Ryzen 3000 ready' sticker on it. Also double check your monitor is on the right input and you're plugged into the videocard.

Confirming the PSU 24-pin connection—occasionally poor contact can occur. Also checking the 8-pin CPU.

Consider verifying your EPS connector first, then inspect your CPU socket for any bent pins or reinsert your CPU.

I'll keep monitoring frequently but I have to head to work right now.

Yes, there is a CPU fan installed, and I double-checked that it was set up properly.

All pins are securely in place and the CPU 4-pin fan was tested. CMOS was cleared, board reinserted and verified again.
