Hello everyone, sorry for the lengthy update. This post is mainly due to the troubleshooting I've carried out so far. I purchased a new computer in April 2021 and, after starting to play more games around July, I've noticed frequent stuttering—possibly microstuttering. The original specifications were: case: Corsair Carbide 500R, CPU: AMD Ryzen R5 5600X, cooler: NH-U12S-SE-AM4, motherboard: Asus B550-F (WiFi), BIOS 2006, RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX (32GB/16GB at 3200MHz), GPU: ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3070, storage: Sabrent Rocket M.2 1TB + Crucial MX100 512GB SATA 6Gbps, PSU: eVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2, mouse: Logitech G502 Hero, keyboard: Asus ROG Strix Scope (XA02), headset: HyperX Cloud II, monitor: MSI Optix MAG271CQR.
The problem is that games suddenly experience random frame time drops—ranging from 3 to 5 frames per second loss, sometimes just once every few minutes. It seems to lessen over time but never fully disappears. After trying MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server, I can see frame time spikes during stutters. The severity doesn’t change much with game difficulty: old titles like Quake Live, Counter-Strike 1.6, Warsow, and even modern games such as Cyberpunk 2077 all show similar issues.
Temperatures were generally normal on the CPU, GPU, and motherboard, which left me puzzled. I checked forums for possible fixes—searching for OS updates, service patches, driver changes, and even uninstalling game apps—but nothing resolved it. I disabled Game Bar, uninstalled Xbox AppX, and ran LatencyMon, yet no clear latency spikes appeared.
I also looked into RAM, suspecting speed issues. Running memtest86 confirmed no memory errors, and changing the DOCP profile didn’t help. Swapping the RTX 3070 for a GTX 970 didn’t fix it either. I tried different monitors, HDMI, and even another monitor (ASUS VN247H), but the problem remained consistent.
Hardware inspection suggested the GPU might be the culprit, as stuttering only appeared in games. I removed all SATA devices, reinstalled Windows 10 fresh, and even swapped the motherboard and power supply, but nothing changed. I also replaced the RAM with a known-good set, ran tests, and still got the same issue.
At this stage, I’m uncertain whether the issue lies in the CPU, GPU, or possibly the OS itself. I’ve applied several updates and ruled out common culprits. I’m left wondering if there’s something else I missed—perhaps a BIOS setting or a hidden driver conflict.
