Issues with the i7 5820k and receiving failed boot messages.
CPU model is i7 5820k 3.3
Motherboard brand and model: Gigabyte x99-ud3p
Memory specification: Corsair Vengeance 16gb 2800 (2133*
RAM speed: XFX 850w Core Edition
Power supply unit: XFX 850w Core Edition
Graphics card: Sapphire R9 290x Tri Edition
I'm experiencing problems with overclocking. When I set all parameters to defaults in the BIOS, it boots normally. But when I increase the clock multiplier from 33 to 34, I receive a boot failure message on the splash screen. Even after adjusting the VRAM by .10 and repeating the boot process multiple times, it still doesn't start. I've disabled Core Turbo and manually set the base clock to 100mhz. The only changes I've made are adjusting the multiplier and VRAM to match previous successful configurations... I'm really tired of tweaking settings. I also reset the CMOS and returned to the default BIOS settings.
Any assistance would be extremely helpful.

I believe you're using a 'lemon' CPU, which is common. The odd part is that if I don't overclock the CPU and instead enable an XMP profile for RAM overclocking, it won't boot properly.

Hmm, that doesn't seem right. The vibe from the RAM speed is off. Would you try it with a lower RAM speed? I think the kit might need a bit more voltage to handle an overclock. It's currently at 2133mhz, which is the clocked speed after downclocking due to CPU limits. Want me to take it even lower? I'll also run MemTest shortly. Corsair was all microcenter when I was going through that :C

that doesn't seem right. The system is picking up a bad vibe from the high RAM speed right now. Would you try reducing it? It might help if the kit gets a bit more voltage to handle an overclock. I ran Memtest with over 100 passes and everything was fine. When I get home from work today, I plan to manually set the RAM clock to 2133mhz and test if a small CPU overclock works. My old MSi board easily went from 3.9 to 4.6 with AMD 6350. I'm not very familiar with Gigabyte Bios, but I'll give it a shot tonight in two empty RAM slots just to be safe. Maybe it's not comfortable with all the RAM slots being full during an OC.
