Issues with the HT link speed on the Athlon X4 640 model.
Hi,
I'm just wondering why is my HT Link Speed low i mean its supposed to 2000mhz, but i only get 1.100mhz, I'm not sure whats wrong i mean even though i overclocked my CPU my stock HT Link was 1000mhz please kindly take a look at my bios configuration and see if what am i doing wrong here.
Mobo: emaxx mcp61d3-icafe
RAM: Emaxx 4gb x1 DDR 1333mhz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6850 1GB
PSU: Generic 500W
CPU: Athlon X4 640 Quad - 3.0ghz
Thank you!
Well... reducing the bus speed in half would definitely affect performance noticeably. On the other hand, I haven't seen any board with a 1000 MHz HT speed before. That's why I was curious to check the specifications for confirmation. But unfortunately, I couldn't find anything matching that frequency. Earlier models had 800 MHz and later ones reached up to 1.4 GHz, but nothing at 1.15 GHz like this one.
There isn't much available about that motherboard or chipset. Could it be restricted to a slower HT speed compared to the CPU?

Well... it would halve the bus speed. So definitely a noticeable performance drop would occur. On the other hand, I don't recall ever seeing a motherboard with a 1000 MHz HT speed. That's why I was looking up the specifications to confirm. But no luck found. Earlier models had 800 MHz and later ones reached 1.4 GHz HT speeds. However, I haven't seen one at 1.15 GHz like yours. Thanks for the response. I'm planning to purchase a new mobo and will let you know after that on how it helps me optimize my Athlon X4 640.
