That's it. Probably a faulty Y splitter or a poor microphone. Most headset mics are of low quality and require at least 90+39dBA.

It remains quite soft and I generally keep it around 2-3 cm from my mouth. I've used the Y splitter with another pair of headsets and it hasn't changed much, and that other set still sounds very faint, though a bit quieter than the current one. Not a big variation but it's clear. On my laptop, everything functions perfectly—no need for amplification and 85-90% sensitivity is more than sufficient. A full boost would be too much, but since it's a combo jack, it works fine without one. It behaves just like when I use it on my phone.

Might be a simple mistake or misconfiguration. From what I understand, there seem to be two main TRRS plug pin configurations.
