I’d like to begin by noting that explaining this can be tricky, so feel free to ask for more details if needed. Recently I installed a budget motherboard and expected solid performance, but my download speed halves after just a few seconds of normal use, even when I set it to high priority. It briefly recovers before dropping again. I’ve changed cables, updated drivers, reset the adapter settings, but nothing resolves the problem. I’m unsure what’s causing it or how to fix it without switching boards. My current specs are: MSI RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB OC DDR4 RAM on an older PC where average download speeds were consistently around 100 Mbps. I’m open to recommendations for a replacement Mini/Micro-ATX board that supports LGA 1700 and DDR4, while staying within my budget. I’m also curious if the Windows network diagnostic will flag low-quality connections alongside the speed drop. I’ve tried several workarounds people suggest, like using PingPotter, which throttles under load but isn’t stable otherwise. It worked on my previous system, but only here does it persist.
