issues with speed changes at gigabit rates
I have a gigabit network at home with all devices transferring data steadily at about 113mb/sec, except one machine that varies between 110-75mb/sec. No clear cause seems obvious—it's not an old system and the hardware can handle full speed. I checked the cable by connecting another working device and confirmed it works fine. The affected computer appears to be acting strangely. Its specs are listed as: Asus Prime b350 plus, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB DDR4 3200, GTX 760, Samsung Evo 970, 256GB NVMe, Windows 10 (latest), all drivers updated. Task manager shows no unusual CPU usage. This is frustrating because I’m trying to solve it. Any suggestions?
It's not really about her computer at all—it's just mine. She doesn’t use it much, but I’m super stressed because of this obsession! lol
I didn’t waste time thinking about it. It’s just an inexpensive network chip on a consumer board filled with many more budget chips. It won’t offer the same quality, stability, or consistency as genuine network gear. If it’s meant for low-end applications, it’s fine until issues arise.
