I started Skyrim and when I opened it, the window didn’t fit my screen properly. I went into settings to adjust the resolution, but my monitor is old and doesn’t have any scaling options in the slider. I’m really confused about how to fix this.

I experienced comparable problems with my triple monitor configuration. At that stage, the most effective solution was to operate in windowed mode and then move the window until it reached the top of the display, allowing the system to recognize the need for a full-screen view. If this approach fails, consider another method.

The issue might be related to how you're interacting with the window. Try using the full-screen button or adjusting your settings to ensure it responds correctly. If the problem persists, check for any recent changes or updates affecting this feature.

only supports windows 7 and newer versions. since you need to act quickly, try launching Skyrim via Steam or another method. exit the game, navigate to the directory where Skyrim’s data is saved—typically (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim)—then move into the Skyrim folder. look for a file named SkyrimPrefs and open it with any text editor you prefer, such as Notepad. make a backup of the original file before editing. adjust the dimensions in the file to set iSize H=1040 and iSize W=1280, save the changes, and you’re done. boom! note: this was edited on October 28, 2016 by Numbafieve (no quotes included).
