Hi, I recently switched from an AMD 860K to an Intel 6700k. I chose the K model for a reason. I’m trying to overclock this setup. This is my first experience with Intel and also my first time using Asus motherboards (I have a Z170-AR). On my old Gigabyte motherboard, the clock ratio setting was visible on the splash screen. I adjusted it, and suddenly I was able to overclock. With my new configuration, though, it’s not working the same way. After some time exploring the BIOS, I think I managed to change the clock ratio. In the BIOS it shows "Target CPU Frequency: 4400Mhz," but when I open Task Manager in my operating system, it lists a maximum CPU clock of 4.01Ghz and the CPU doesn’t exceed that.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, but what’s going on?

Thanks for your help ahead of time.

Task manager displays inaccurate frequency measurements. To get accurate data, install CPU-Z and a hardware monitor.

Lodders:
Task manager shows wrong frequency values. To fix it, install CPU-Z and a hardware monitor. CPU-Z also shows 4Ghz.

In BIOS navigate to CPU core ratio and set it to 44 for every core.

AlphaActual :
lodders :
in BIOS Go into CPU core ratio, and change it to 44 for all cores.
