I was working on my PC for the first time ever. I decided to swap out the thermal paste because something didn’t look right—some pins were bent a bit. A quick search confirmed it’s okay. Now everything seems fine, but my heatsink won’t stick properly. I have four black Cylders, probably meant for mounting, though they might be loose. Could you check if they broke off? Photos would help.

What temperature is it? Check the instructions—it explains the installation. The spacers remain intact thanks to the screws. Why does the thermal paste seem off? Consider its appearance once the adhesive is applied.

It seems like a minor issue I found in the manuals. Apparently, there are those longer parts intended for installation. I’m still confused about the photos I received.

There should be a metal plate that goes on the back of your motherboard with posts that poke through the four holes around your cpu socket. The black cylinders go on top of them, and the screws go through them into the posts. My guess is when you removed the cooler, the backplate fell. Try removing the back panel of your computer and looking around for it.

Yeah, thats it. Those black screwholes go through the mobo. Then, place the other black things on top of them, then the screws
