Hello, your concern is valid. Running at 50% usage with 16GB RAM can be normal depending on the workload. Some applications, especially games like Arma and Chrome, may consume more memory than others. Checking for background processes, updating drivers, and ensuring your system has enough resources can help. If performance remains poor, consider optimizing settings or upgrading hardware.

People often say things when you reply to get their attention. Many programs are consuming several hundred MB of memory, which adds up fast. I’d begin by closing anything that isn’t necessary while it’s running.

The visible figures on your screen already indicate 8 GB of usage, which equals 50% capacity. Changing to the performance view will likely show that Windows also utilizes part of the RAM as temporary storage (cache), a practice that helps speed things up when required.

I haven't checked that cache before—it's fully reserved and not used by any other programs. I just placed an order for two 16GB RAM modules, which should be enough.

The cache helps make programs start faster by reserving memory temporarily. Windows releases this space when apps don’t need it, so they can use the memory later. It’s like keeping unused space ready but not actually storing it long-term. Rather than adding more RAM, consider following @kelvinhall05’s suggestion—close unused applications. Would you like both TS and Discord off at the same time? Also, think about removing Steam, Arma 3 Launcher, and Malwarebytes, which might take up around half to a full gigabyte.

I thought I might be experiencing a memory leak. If I'm using all my RAM, I'm happy to let it run without worrying about closing apps due to memory usage. Just need to keep the 50 Chrome tabs open! Shouldn't run into any more issues with the upgrade.

A memory leak is an issue where a program gradually consumes more memory until it runs out of available space. This occurs when the program allocates memory but fails to release it properly. Without detecting this pattern in the software you use, it remains undetected. Think of it as wasting resources—your time and effort are wasted if you can't see the problem. If you need improvements, consider upgrading.
