Hello, I recently upgraded my PC with a Ryzen 5 5600X CPU and a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 motherboard. The onboard Realtek 2.5 Gigabit NIC is causing issues under heavy usage. My previous Asus Q87M-E board with an Intel I217-LM worked well for speed tests, and downloads in Steam and Chrome were also fast. Now, the new setup struggles with large loads—audio drops during background downloads, and connections frequently drop even at 100 Mbps. Windows 10 20H2 runs fine with the latest Gigabyte drivers, but performance is lacking. I’m considering a PCIe NIC with Intel 82574L or swapping to an Asus B550-F with Intel NIC. Any advice or alternatives would be appreciated.

Inspect your cabling and see the actual speed the NIC is using. It could be adjusting to 100Mbit.

Network adapter properties reports it as running at 1 gigabit. I have one cable running from the computer to the port on the wall. I should also note that this is in a university dorm room, so I can't run advanced network diagnosis. Really just trying to see if others have had problems with these NICs.
