Issues with port-forwarding
Issues with port-forwarding
After trying countless methods, I’ve realized I can’t set up port forwarding. My Technicolor TC7200 router is working, the server setup is correct, and I’m using a genuine Steam client. I’ve double-checked everything and even entered my public IP in the external field, but it still doesn’t work. I’ve attached some photos for reference. Help needed!
Also ensure the port is open for both incoming and outgoing traffic in the Windows firewall. It's likely the router is functioning properly, but Windows may be preventing the connection.
Switch the router to TCP mode. This change may impact things. Throughout my IT experience, DMZ has never worked properly for me. It's better to turn it off—it poses a security threat—so stick with manually opening ports.
I turned off the DMZ setting, updated every TCP port in both the firewall and router, but the issue persists. It feels like an unseen barrier is blocking the connection.
Add your external IP to the router interface. Assign the client computer a fixed IP address of 192.168.0.12. These settings are optional, but they might help.
While reviewing the router settings, I found the WAN section where my IP differs from the public IP I receive using tools like what is my ip. I added that IP as an external IP in the port forwarding configuration, and it resolved the issue. Thanks for your assistance!
