On my new system with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32 GB RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, I’m having trouble activating the NVIDIA High Definition Audio when selecting it in sound settings. The other option shows Speakers Realtek Audio, and I hear sound then. Why isn’t the HD audio working? It’s enabled in the BIOS, possibly coming from the video card. Also, in Device Manager, there are two display adapters listed—one NVIDIA and one AMD Radeon Graphics. When I right-click the desktop and open the display window, it shows AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. Could that be the cause of the issue? What is this AMD software?

Why is the high def audio not working?
If the display you have doesn't have built in speakers nor if your HDMI is hooked to an audio receiver, you won't get audio output out by selecting Nvidia High Definition Audio. This leads me to ask, what is the make and model of your audio equipment and how are you hooked to your audio output device?
If you're hooked to the motherboard's onboard audio ports, then you need to have Realtek Audio as your default audio device.
When I right click on the desktop and get the display window, I see AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
To avoid spaghetti brains, please list your specs like so;
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
I say spaghetti since the second line of your wall of text shows that you own an Nvidia discrete GPU, not an AMD discrete GPU, so you shouldn't be seeing AMD's adrenalin edition app listed in the Display Settings/context menu.
Did you install the OS or did the system comes with the OS and app's installed?

Are there video cards where you can plug in audio? The only one I see is on the motherboard. This is a brand new computer by the way. Oh, and I just have it hooked up to desktop speakers.
