Hey there. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my Valorant gaming setup. My FPS usually hovers around 250-300 when using the lowest settings, but it jumps to 400-500 in online matches. I have a RX 6950 XT, an I7-12700KF, 32 GB DDR4 RAM, and a 650W PSU. A friend mentioned this is unusual—my card can handle over 400-500 fps in Valorant, while my machine only reaches about 300 with frequent dips to 250 fps. It also spikes to around 500 in practice mode. When I first got the machine, it was 600-700 fps, but that's not happening anymore. What might be causing this inconsistency?

Install the graphics drivers, restart them, and verify again.

The settings vary between matches and practice mode. Handling various effects and abilities, plus the dynamic elements of each round, works well at 250 fps. Stability is key, but maintaining smooth performance from 250 to 500 fps is acceptable. A drop to around 50 fps would be problematic.

I considered it but ruled out that logic since I consistently had 500 fps in online games before, yet now experience 300 fps with occasional drops to 250 fps.

Game changes and updates will influence your system. Usually, you won’t notice much unless your monitor is 360Hz. As long as it maintains 250-400 FPS consistently, you’re safe.

I placed an order for a 360 htz monitor and have some concerns about possible screen tearing or performance issues. I double-checked online benchmarks, which suggest my system should handle 400-600 fps at 1440p. Right now I’m using a 1080p 165 htz monitor and intend to use it as a secondary display.
