I'm really sorry about this. It would mean a lot if someone could assist or point out what's going wrong. I bought my PC about two years ago and recently faced performance issues during gaming for the past couple of months, starting around mid to late January (probably January 23rd). I've done everything possible—consulted experts, upgraded components, even reset it—but nothing seems to fix the problem. I've also installed new parts.

A bit about my setup: I mainly play Fortnite and other games. My PC is prebuilt, which might mean it has some underlying issues. Before the problems began, I was consistently getting around 240 FPS with no stutters or drops. After January 23rd, my frame rate dropped below 100 in both gaming and creative modes. I've tried optimization, tweaking settings, but nothing worked. I even cleaned it thoroughly, replaced thermal paste, and used compressed air, yet the issue persisted.

Now I'm considering going back to a prebuilt configuration. The only downside was the fan, so I upgraded to the Noctura NH-D15. Two things went wrong: first, it doesn’t fit in my case, so I had to remove the case cover. Second, even after that change, the performance didn’t improve.

My PC specs are: i7-11700KF processor, 64 GB RAM (upgraded from two 8 GB), GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, a 2 TB hard drive plus a 512 GB SSD, and it's an ASUS ROG Gaming Desktop. I'm really hoping for any advice or help to resolve this so I don’t have to worry about further costs.

Execute cinebench R23 to assess multi-core performance. Use HWinfo64 and GPU-Z for background monitoring during playback. Check GPU power consumption and PCIe specifications.

Fortnite runs on either an SSD or HDD, but some players report similar problems with other titles as well. It appears this isn't limited to just Fortnite.

I think it's running on an SSD. Plus, many other titles are struggling with low frame rates these days.

Your temperatures are normal. Background processes shouldn't affect performance much. Your CPU is running at about 15,000, which matches your 12th gen i5.

Consider testing with FurMark or Unigine Heaven while checking GPU temperatures with HWMonitor or HWiNFO64. After that, re-run Cinebench R23 and monitor CPU temperatures using the same tools.

I don’t have background apps enabled for power conservation. My temperatures were in the 60s to 70s, but everything changed suddenly when I powered on. Now it’s stuck at 240 and then it jumps. I can’t manage a steady 100.

Be quite unusual. Ensure you close any unused applications in your tray by selecting them via a right-click and choosing close or exit. (Image included)
