Issues with PC crashes frequently occur across most games.
Hello everyone, I recently assembled a new PC and have been facing issues since installation. Games frequently freeze without any warning. The problems vary by title, but for most games I don’t see any error alerts. Only Alan Wake II displays a message stating 'GPU crash.' In Fortnite, the game crashes during play, yet I can temporarily resolve it by completely turning off Steam. When working with After Effects 2023, I experience blue screens intermittently, accompanied by error codes such as 'Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area' and 'System_Service_Exceptions.' Once the screen reaches 100%, it remains stuck indefinitely. Discord also tends to crash during gaming, often due to a JavaScript error. I’ve attempted reinstalling Windows, adjusting my overclocked GPU’s settings, but nothing has improved. I’m unsure what to do next and would value any advice from others who might have faced similar challenges. Here’s a summary of my setup: I assembled the PC myself using Alternate, selecting all components. Operating system: Windows 11 Home version 10.0.22631. CPU: Intel Core I9-14900K (3200/1700 MHz). GPU: Asus RTX 4070 Ti overclocked. Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming. Storage: 2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD. RAM: G.Skill 64GB DDR5-6000 Trident Z5 RGB with XMP profile. Power supply: be quiet! Pure Power 12M/1000W. BIOS is up to date, drivers are installed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Disable XMP settings and check if the issue persists. Ask about the CPU cooler and confirm whether your RAM package is a 2x32 or 4x16 configuration.
The crash you’re experiencing is linked to a RAM problem, possibly due to an XMP configuration or compatibility concerns. Are you using DDR5 modules in your QVL list? If yes, this could cause difficulties since many boards struggle with quad module setups. For the gaming issues, similar crashes occurred with my 14900K, affecting DX12/UE5 titles and 14th Gen Intel CPUs. The error appears as a GPU fault, but it’s actually a performance core speed issue tied to the CPU. To resolve this, install Intel XTU and adjust your performance core ratio to a lower setting (like 55x instead of the default 57x). Save your changes and enable the profile at startup. This should address the GPU errors in games like Alan Wake 2 and Fortnite, as well as most other titles. The BSOD itself seems memory-related and would need further details for precise diagnosis.
Thanks for your response. I'll attempt to disable XMP and check if other problems persist. Just a note, I experienced crashes while playing GTA 4 shortly after starting, suggesting a CPU issue rather than graphics settings. Also, loading Fortnite on DX12 failed completely, even though it worked on DX11.
