Issues with overclocking GTX 650Ti on OCGuru and MSI
I just got an HTC Vive. I'm waiting for the new Pascals cards to drop before I pick up a VR ready card. Until then, I wanted to see if I could squeeze a little more juicy out of my crusty 650ti.
I downloaded both OC Guru and MSI, and I can't seem to get them to do anything useful.
OC Guru, (
following a guide I found online
) I bumped up the core speed from default to 1175 and the OC memory to 6.4 GHZ. According to what I think I'm reading on this guide at least. I haven't OCed in a long time and never seriously. And it only let me bump up the voltage by .050, which doesn't seem like enough according to that guide?
Anyway I ran Uniengine's Heaven benchmark on it and it gets all the way through, ranging from 15-60fps. Usually around 20. Temps never break 45.
So that's not a big difference, so I uninstalled and then installed MSI afterburner. On this one I can't change any of the sliders at all? I don't know why? And I changed the settings to unlock stuff, but it's still locked. Not sure why it won't let me move the sliders etc...
You reinstalled OC Guru and now it allows you to adjust sliders, but each benchmark run causes a crash. The error message appears occasionally, suggesting the system is not reaching its full clock speed—possibly an issue with a GPU core.
