A client reached out today with a problem involving her Outlook. When she typed or replied to emails, the text would either not appear or appear only after pressing enter. I checked for an update on Office Pro 2016 on my system and chose to install it to compare with her experience. Now we’re facing the same issues she mentioned. Additionally, every email attempt left the inbox empty unless viewed in a browser. Anyone have encountered this?

This is a know issue that just started today.
It's an Outlook bug/outage affecting many, many, MANY people. Microsoft is aware and is working on a fix.
You can rollback your Microsoft Office installation as a temporary workaround or log in to webmail.

Review the most recent update -

It impacted many users, so the best option is to wait for a fix or revert to the previous release. (You might also try using Outlook in safe mode)

Despite the name, Microsoft posts other, related-product blunders here as well.
The OPs issue is the worldwide issue currently being experienced.

I promise I tried opening Outlook in Safe Mode (Run -> Outlook /safe) and the problem persisted, but I'll check again tomorrow. Appreciate the details!

It seems your Outlook is functioning properly now, even though no updates were applied. Are you wondering if Outlook operates on the web and how to resolve this issue without an installation update?
