Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing problems with the latest build of Overwatch. When I press alt to exit and then return into the game, I get stuck on a black screen that lasts about three seconds. I think this is related to how my display settings manage the refresh rate. Please see the attached screenshot showing the refresh rate is just under 240Hz.

Initially, I managed to fix this by using an overclocking option on my monitor to raise the refresh rate to 270Hz, but that caused other display issues, so I'm now searching for alternative solutions. I've attempted to set up a custom resolution of 250Hz and 230Hz through the Nvidia Control Panel, yet the black screen persists at those settings. Below is a list of resolutions available; many aren't whole numbers and still trigger the problem. As a final option, I might have to stick with the 144Hz setting, but I'd like to explore all possibilities first.

I would appreciate it if someone could offer further advice or suggest another way to create a 240Hz custom resolution.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
When switching between tabs and returning into the game, I encounter a black screen lasting about three seconds.
Could you tell me which driver version you're using for Nvidia's Control Panel or your GPU?
What is the make and model of your motherboard, along with its current BIOS version?
Which operating system are you running, and please specify the exact version (not just an edition).
The discussion has been moved from the Apps and Software section to the Graphics cards section.

Consider trying to download Powerstrip Video to test compatibility with your system. It was once a top choice.

Thank you! I'll examine it, though I think this problem should be resolvable without extra tools. I'm still uncertain about the outcome.

The screen supports adaptive sync, allowing it to adjust its refresh rate up to 240 times per second. Long pressing the alt key has no impact on the refresh rate you're using. I would check if dynamic refresh rate is enabled via Windows (as shown in your first image) just to confirm. With 32GB of RAM, having many open browser tabs or other applications running could still cause memory issues, leaving only a few seconds for background processes from disk loading.

Hey,
Tried dynamic refresh rate, same thing. This is a pretty known issue (at least within overwatch) when it comes to alt tabbing when resolution/refresh rate are not synced between the game and the monitor. Question is, how can I adjust this within windows.
