I recently purchased an RTX 2060 from Gigabyte and replaced my GTX 970, planning to begin with Minecraft. I expected a significant boost in performance because it’s a newer card, but unfortunately, I’m only achieving about half the frames I used on the 970, which both surprises and bothers me, especially since I’m accustomed to having shaders running continuously.

Right now, my RTX 2060 performance looks like this:
- Minecraft (Max settings, no shaders, Optifine installed): 100–180 frames, with sharp drops to around 20 fps
- Minecraft (Sildur's Extreme Vibrant Lighting Shader, same settings): 30–70 fps, averaging about 45 fps normally
- On the GTX 970:
- Minecraft (same settings, no shaders): 350–700 fps, consistently around 200 fps even in large farms that would lower the RTX to ~20 fps
- Minecraft (same shader, same settings): 100–180 fps, dropping to 70 on big farms

I’ve tried various fixes—uninstalling GeForce Experience, updating drivers, even rolling back drivers—but nothing helps. I’ve also noticed my PC uses minimal CPU power during normal gameplay, around 20–40%, even when shaders are active.

Other games that demand more resources, such as GTA V, ARK, and Fortnite, run perfectly at high settings.

My system specs:
- i7-8700 @3.2ghz
- Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra
- Gigabyte RTX 2060 6GB
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB @2666hz
- Corsair RM750, 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular
- NZXT H500
- CoolerMaster ML240L AIO Liquid Cooler
- WD 240gb M.2
- Seagate Barracuda 1tb

Thank you ahead of time <3

I adjusted the graphics options extensively and disabled smooth lighting, yet I'm still having trouble reaching over 200.

Have you attempted to save your world files before removing and reinstalling Minecraft?
