I purchased an extra RAM module to increase capacity from 16GB to 32GB (Gskill TridentZ 2x8 3200MHz DDR4). It matched the previous unit exactly—same speed and serial number. Initially, I installed it as usual, confirming identical clock speeds across sticks. My PC began showing BSODs for various reasons, all linked to memory issues. I updated the BIOS, but the problem persisted. I attempted different speeds (1800, 2600, 3000) yet crashes continued. I suspected the new RAM might be defective, so I ran a Windows Memory Diagnostic, which came up empty. I then swapped RAM modules between slots and discovered inconsistencies: on the second and fourth slots with just two sticks, everything worked at 3200MHz, even the new set. However, on the first and third slots, nothing functioned, and my PC wouldn’t boot even with one or two sticks. I attached a photo for reference. It only ran in idle mode, showing no activity. Something unusual might be happening—my old RAM operated at 1.2V at 3200MHz, while the new one was at 1.36V at the same speed. With all four sticks, it remained stable at 1.36V. At this stage, I’ve tried numerous fixes and am considering that some motherboard slots could be faulty or that BIOS settings need adjustment.
