Hi everyone, I thought it was a bit late for this but I just got Witcher 3 during the summer sale and wanted to give it a try. I’m impressed by its graphics and have a powerful PC, so I pushed the graphics settings to their limit. Recently, I’ve been in Novigrad and started noticing texture issues—parts of the map appear black on the minimap, which matches areas where textures load slowly or flicker. I also experienced delays of around 10 seconds when loading the next dialogue option, something that didn’t happen when I first started. Additionally, saving my progress takes about two minutes now.

I’ve looked up some information and most discussions seem to focus on mods, which I don’t have and can’t confirm would affect me. Most problems also involve slower SSDs or HDDs, but I’m using a PCIe Gen 4 SSD (free with my purchase). Here are my system details:
CPU: 12600K
GPU: RTX 3080 FTW3
MOBO: Gigabyte z690i ddr4
RAM: Trident Z 3200
PSU: EVGA supernova 850w
SSD: WD Black 850 1TB
Performance has been stable, with CPU around 55 and GPU around 70. The SSD gets warmer at 80 if it matters. I’ve also shared some videos showing the texture issues and the slow dialogue loading times, which seem to be real problems.

Thanks for any advice!

Did you enable the Resizeable Bar? It might assist with the textures.
It appears there could be a decompression issue, as it takes a long time to load the model for the tent or locate a single line of dialogue.

Sorry, I'm still figuring out what a resizeable bar means. It seems to be difficult for it to locate dialogue lines, but it works fine with other parts of Novigrad.

Resizable bar offers a method to boost the data transfer capacity from CPU to GPU, typically 128KB. PCIe standards permit larger data blocks, but activation is required. GeForce RTX 30 Series Performance Accelerates With Resizable BAR Support | GeForce News | NVIDIA.

I notice some texture flickering and distant object pop-in, even though it seems too close. Are any settings being overclocked? If so, reset everything to the default state (temperatures don't matter). Would you experience similar issues with Time Spy or Fire Strike if you run them consecutively at least four times?

I have not really overclocked perse, but in precision x1 I had boost lock on for a bit and I have my own fan curve. Also, another issue I've had for a while is with nvlddmkm.sys file. Occasionally I will lose signal to the computer and would have to forcefully shut it down, wait a bit and restart computer to get signal again. It happens randomly and I can't exactly pinpoint when it will happen, but in event viewer I will either have rebooted from a bugcheck 0x116 or have event id 14 error, just no bsod. Also in my windows/system32/drivers folder I don't have the nvlddmkm.sys file, and I'm not sure how to resolve that because I just figured it out. Oh well this is probs for another thread, thanks for the help.

It seems your system is experiencing OS corruption or instability, which may be affecting your gaming. Have you attempted stress testing the CPU, RAM, or GPU, or have you completely wiped the OS and restarted it?

Based on previous discussions, this appears to be a recurring problem, possibly linked to the operating system. It might be unnecessary to tackle the Witcher 3 issue without first identifying the root cause?

I created this SFF build around three months ago and faced a similar issue before. I swapped out the PSU, which resolved the problem until recently. After reinstalling Windows post-PSU change, I conducted stress tests on the CPU and GPU, running Prime95 and AIDA64 for approximately two hours each. I haven’t tested RAM yet and didn’t reinstall Windows since the SFC scan showed no issues, leading me to believe everything was okay.

I don't have this exact setup, although I reinstalled Windows. I'm not sure if it's a complete reset. Also, I have another SSD, but I'm unsure whether to wipe it if I were doing a full reset.
