Hi there! I recently purchased a Linksys router that lets me connect my Linksys smart Wi-Fi account for remote management. After about an hour of configuration, everything seemed to work smoothly—internet stayed fast and reliable throughout the building. The main challenge I faced was with the LinksysSmartWifi cloud feature. While it functions well when connecting directly to the access point inside the network, it tends to drop connections when I switch settings or browse the web. It seems the cloud link isn’t as consistent as expected. *I’m using the Linksys EA6400 dual band model.*

By default, avoid setting up your router via Wi-Fi, particularly updating it through the network. This is especially true if you're using custom firmware such as OpenWrt or LEDE—updating can be tricky. If you adjust settings like ports or Wi-Fi configurations, the device must restart for changes to take effect. Clear any browser cookies and cache if you encounter problems. Ensure your firewall and antivirus aren't blocking the connection (I noticed Bitdefender caused issues, so add it to the whitelist). Lastly, steer clear of that outdated remote control.

Linksys routers come preloaded with a working wireless network, displaying the password and SSID on the device. I connected it via WI-FI on my laptop, which lacks an Ethernet port, and used the Linksys Smart WI-FI app to configure it. Despite this, I encountered issues. After several power cycles, the problem persisted. Notably, when using the app, it logs in with cloud features and allows remote access, but fails when accessing through the website on my desktop. Connecting via IP address on the same network with a USB adapter works fine. However, trying to log in to the Linksys account results in an error stating it cannot reach the router or encountering "ERROR_FAIL_GET_WAN_SETTINGS" after a waiting animation.
