Issues with LAN configuration
Hello, I've been working with computers for a while, but I never adjusted any network settings before. After a hardware upgrade, my devices are connecting, but I'm still unsure how to link the NAS via the switch instead of relying on the old router. The new setup includes a gigabit Ethernet card, a Netgear switch, and a wireless router. I tried searching for the router's IP range (192.168.1.x) but couldn't locate it. Can you help me figure out how to get everything online through wired connections? Thanks!
The NAS likely receives its IP address through DHCP from the router, meaning the router's DHCP lease list should show its IP. It seems ASUS offers a useful demo interface for their router UI—check it out on your device: https://event.asus.com/2009/networks/dum...ntent.html. Simply connect all devices to the switch, and they’ll communicate at Layer 2, only needing the router for internet access.
My PC is connected via a wired link and can’t reach the ASUS router’s web interface directly. However, it works through Wi-Fi. Since your laptop is at work and you only have a smartphone, you might need to connect your laptop to the same Wi-Fi network or use a different device to access the router settings.
