I'm curious if others have faced similar problems. My main game is Counter-Strike 2 and it runs perfectly without any lag or issues at around 360FPS. However, when I switch to other games like Icarus, I often see average performance between 80-90fps, capped at 100fps with High settings enabled. These small lag spikes are bothersome, even though I can still play smoothly overall. I've tried several fixes but haven't found a permanent solution. I've heard about the 1% lows possibly being the cause, but it seems to be more of an annoyance than a major issue.

Do you have MSI afterburner set up? There’s a problem with the "GPU Power" monitoring that leads to lag spikes and low FPS. Keep an eye on your RAM and VRAM usage during games; if either exceeds around 95% utilization, it’s likely the cause. Try switching to the new Nvidia statistics monitor from the Nvidia app. It still uses the ALT+Z shortcut—set it to display advanced GPU stats, FPS, and 1% performance details.

High GPU usage above 97%, no matter how much RAM or VRAM you have, tends to reduce smoothness and cause those small lags. For the best gameplay, keep GPU utilization under 97%.

From what I understand, Icarus runs on Unreal 4, but I’m not familiar with it. Unreal 5 is known to have similar issues, and as a consumer you probably can’t fix that. It might also affect UE4, though I’m not sure.

I've also attempted to run without afterburner and encountered the same problem. My RAM is about 88-90% usage (9501Mhz in the NVIDIA app). I checked the NVIDIA Statistics Monitor and still see minor drops, but they’re not consistently low. Running at around 70 FPS average with occasional pauses to 22 FPS or 70 FPS when stationary, while 90 FPS is stable. It seems the lows aren’t always in the lower range, sometimes reaching up to 50 or even 60 FPS. My GPU keeps staying above 97% wherever I try to cap it. Could this be due to GPU workload or perhaps Unreal Engine?

Great! And yes, it's consuming a lot of RAM while I play.
