I purchased GTA5 around mid-2015 and completed the Story Mode without much online play until recently. A few friends asked me to try it again. My performance remains poor, averaging 65-75 FPS even with minimal settings, and I still experience frequent lag, dropping to near zero even when nothing complex is rendering. I attempted overclocking without success, and even at a steady 70 FPS, the game freezes and then restarts.

GTA V demands a lot from the processor, especially with an older chip that only supports 4 threads per core. You might need to upgrade to a faster CPU like the 6600K or higher-end options to handle 4.5+ GHz smoothly. Your current setup is limiting the GPU performance in the game.

You recently boosted your CPU speed to 4.4GhZ and adjusted the voltage to 1.3V. Now you're consistently achieving 70 frames per second without any interruptions. Great job!
