When I first launched GTA V, I experienced smooth 60fps with vsync. However, after a few starts, I noticed frequent GPU usage drops, causing my frame rate to fall below my clock speed and triggering lag spikes with FPS dropping under 20. Despite adjusting settings, the issue persisted even after uninstalling and reinstalling the game multiple times. Initially, I suspected self-radio was the problem, but after turning off music and disabling self-radio, the problem continued. My system specs are listed online, and while others reported similar issues around six months ago, a patch released shortly after should have resolved it. This game is one of the most demanding for my new card, making it especially challenging to play at full performance.

I've faced the same problem too. Occasionally switching tabs worked, but sometimes it caused a stuttery mess. GTA V doesn't seem to have a reliable port. Based on my and others' experiences, its performance is quite inconsistent. Some people run it perfectly, while others encounter issues. I'm planning a fresh install on my SSD and will check the results.

In recent days, GTA V experienced performance issues on my Steam machine. I tried fixing it by updating and reinstalling drivers, spending roughly an hour on troubleshooting. The solution came when I adjusted the v sync half during setup.

Great idea! I’ll give it a shot.
Edit: It functioned, though playing at 30fps would’ve been tougher on the console version.
