Issues with increasing the voltage for my graphics card
I'm using MSI afterburner with the GPU core voltage slider enabled. When adjusting it, I notice the core voltage remains unchanged, as shown in the detached monitoring window. I own a GTX 1060 from the Founders line. Should I need to make any changes in the BIOS to unlock the option of modifying the voltage? Also, I haven't adjusted the power limit, core clock, or memory clock—those are already set correctly at 116, 200, and 400.
Its bios was set around 1.1v, possibly 1.09v. Just pushing the power limit slider. If you push the voltage slider to its maximum, you’ll only get 1.1v under load. Check the gpu-z and opnen sensors tab to confirm you’re getting the maximum voltage under load. The default setting might be set lower, like 1.05, meaning maxing the slider would lock it at 1.1v. You should be able to reach a hard lock of 1.2v by flashing another vbios, though that’s risky. I’d recommend just maxing out the slider and moving on.
