I’m going to use Fortnite as an example, so I apologize ahead of time!
I have a Core i3 5005u at 2ghz, paired with an Nvidia 930m and 8 GB of RAM in my Asus A555l laptop. This setup is more than sufficient for playing most games at medium settings, and it has worked well for the past four years. However, recently I’ve encountered problems—I can run Fortnite at 60fps on medium settings, but every so often the game freezes, dropping to around 5 fps for about 30 to 40 seconds, making it unplayable. This issue occurs across various titles, including CSGO and Skyrim, among others. I’ve checked the CPU cooler and temperatures, which are normal, and the system utilization stays between 40% and 60%. Despite this, the problem persists. Some people suggest it’s throttling, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m unsure what’s causing it, even though my HDD is fine. I really need assistance fixing this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like the graphics card is malfunctioning. I strongly suggest getting a GTX 1660 and a Ryzen 5, as they offer solid performance without breaking the bank and fit most budgets.
I'm not entirely sure, but from what you mentioned it's one of the few viable options.
Anyway, why are you upset about using Fortnite as an example?

The hdd is an ssd? Or it's a 7200upm that calibrates at regular intervals.
Power efficiency for the harddrive means it will slow down eventually, requiring about 30-40 seconds to restart.
Lastly, the drive disconnects occasionally because of a bad cable or controller.

I handed my laptop to a tech repair person (who isn’t that great but knows his business, he once fixed something from a dead hdd for me) and he said the HDD was completely fine. It’s likely a 5400 rpm one, after all it’s a budget laptop.

I was actually intending to build that pc, but have to delay it for a few months. In the meantime, I wanted to check if I could repair this laptop. People really hate fornite, that's why I was sorry lol.

Calibrating 7200upm (or faster) drives is typical, and slowing down after long periods in laptop mode remains consistent regardless of RPM. To stop it from slowing, power-saving settings must be modified.

Play whatever you want, people who like that are just Minecraft and The Witcher 3 circlejerkers.
